You're everything a big bad wolf could want

The past month or so feels like it's gone by in a flash; Derek's been working all the shifts he can handle at the garage to get some extra cash, and Stiles has been doing overtime at the library. The pack has been pitching in too, which takes some of the pressure off them, and they've started a Cub Jar to put spare cash in, so they have a good foundation for when the baby finally arrives.

The nursery's halfway done, with Ikea furniture Scott and Stiles proudly assembled (picked according to Lydia's colour scheme, of course), it just needs to be painted and filled with supplies, but that can wait a little longer. Things seem to be going pretty well.

After they'd found out about the cub, Derek had traded in his skinny jeans for looser fitting ones, not wanting to put too much pressure on his stomach for the sake of fashion. He'd even gone up a size once he noticed them getting a little tighter. Not much, but he'd started filling out a bit in his hips, and his ass had definitely not been this round before this.

But this, somehow, had caught him by surprise. The day when even his one-size-up relaxed fit jeans would not fasten.

He smooths his hand over his stomach in awe, following the now firm and tangible curve of it.

He's not going to cry, no matter what his emotions and hormones are doing to him right now. But he will sit on the bed and quietly mourn the loss of his formerly well defined abs.

Derek is still nervous as hell about this, but at least he can do something. Something vaguely productive. Isaac had put his foot down and said no hunting. In fact, the idea of meat or fish at all seemed to make him ill, which meant that Derek was going to be a vegetarian for the next few months, too

First it's off to the internet for some research to figure out what on earth Isaac can and should eat, as well as some book recommendations. Then picking out a few books at the book store and glaring daggers at anyone who dares try to coo at him, then the grocery store to stock up on lots of healthy food and far too many leafy greens for his own liking.

Also bags of cotton candy. Derek isn't going to ask, he's just going to do it and be thankful it's not something weirder and harder to find.

Back at the house, he starts unloading groceries and deciding what he needs to make Isaac eat first, while he's making dinner.

"Isaac? I'm back," he calls out, loading things into the fridge.

Derek rumbles happily, feeling contented and warm and loved, and it's the best he's felt in a long time. "Fine," he sighs. "But I'll give you a giant hickey where it's hard to hide."

Another empty threat, though he backs it up by nosing at Stiles' neck, nipping here and there like he's looking for the best place to bite.
